Dr. Lum performs hemiarthroplasty, total arthroplasty and reverse total shoulder arthroplasty for all conditions that may require the operation. In specific cases, he will perform the operation for fracture also.

Operation Walk
We spent a week at Roberto Calderon Guiterrez Teaching Hospital in Managua, Nicaragua performing joint replacement surgery for patients in the local community who were unable to walk due to debilitating arthritis. Our team consisted of the entire preoperative to postoperative course for the patient, including preoperative nursing, anesthesia, internal medicine physicians, physical therapists, scrub techs, and sterile processing personnel. We shipped all equipment, including implants, trays, sutures, gloves, gowns, disposables, medicines, even saline.
Patients were so appreciative of us. We were greeted each day with flowers, family members expressing their gratitude with food, and song and dance. We teamed up with the local orthopaedic surgeons and their residents in order to provide continuity of care after our departure. It was a fantastic experience that won’t be my last.
